History

      Though the new age has not yet arrived, one can conjecture in which direction the world of cars and energy will be developed.               

     As a matter of fact, what essentially determine the direction of future automotive development are the problems created by petroleum today, viz. the fast depletion of crude oil reserve, oligopolistic production and supply of oil, and pollution from using oil as fuel.               

     These problems cannot be solved merely through economy measure or engine efficiency improvement. New energy to replace petroleum has to be searched far and wide in conjunction with innovating ultra modern automotive technology to run on such alternative energy.              

      The successful alternative energy must have better properties than just being source of energy to propel automobiles like petroleum. It must be easy to find, cheap to produce, available in unlimited quantity and, importantly, must also not deplete natural resources or cause pollution.              

      It is gratifying that persistent efforts of energy experts and automotive engineers have yielded satisfactory results both in their search for the new age energy and development of vehicles for the future. As regards the former, apart from natural gas and electricity that have come to play increasingly bigger roles, fuel cell running on hydrogen in various guises is expected to be widely used in the near future.              

      Regarding vehicle development, from the era of solar cell vehicle which has been highly beneficial to the development process up to now, we have entered the era of electric engine and hybrid engine that can be propelled by energy from petroleum and electricity, not to mention engines that run on bio-diesel, gasohol, and natural gas which had earlier met with success and are becoming popular in this country.              

     Many major manufacturers of the world are proceeding on the path of success in innovating vehicles propelled by these forms of energy for the future which are at once powerful, economical, and pollution free typifying characteristics of the emerging future vehicles.
