Another new car brand from China set to launch in our country at the end of the year. We might be familiar with this name from the Chinese airline company Juneyao Airlines (Juneyao Airlines). Today, they have already entered our domestic automotive market under the name Juneyao Air (Juneyao Air).
New Energy Vehicles under the Supervision of Geely and Juneyao Group
Juneyao Group, owner of the airline company Juneyao Airlines, an airline based in Shanghai, China, held a press conference in November 2023 regarding the company's aircraft and announced a new car brand collaboration with Geely (Geely) to create a new Chinese electric vehicle brand named “Juneyao Auto”. This initiative aims to open a new vision for comprehensive travel based on Juneyao Auto's first model and its integration with Juneyao Airlines, thus forming the “Juneyao Journey” strategy. This strategy is designed to provide users with an integrated travel experience in terms of hardware, software, and services, such as airport pick-up and drop-off, airport parking, and car rental to destinations. Juneyao Group is ready to seamlessly meet both ground and air travel needs.
The production of Juneyao Auto's new energy vehicles will come from shared technology with Yudo Auto (Yudo Auto), an electric vehicle brand launched earlier in 2015, which introduced its first car named Yuntu (Yuntu). In June 2022, Juneyao Group acquired Yudo Auto and became the company's largest shareholder.
Aviation-Inspired Design Throughout the Vehicle
Juneyao Air, the brand's first new electric sedan, features a design inspired by aircraft, adhering to the principle of "Minimalistic Aviation Aesthetics". The car is designed with a single-box shape, known as Ultimate One-Box, and built on its self-developed pure electric platform. The trapezoidal grille at the bottom evokes a prototype car feel. The side profile features a fastback design, emphasizing agility and a low center of gravity.
The vehicle boasts large dimensions, measuring 4,550 mm, comparable to an MPV, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. The headlights feature a distinctive design with ultra-slim 15 mm triangular LED lenses and 240 LED bulbs. The Daytime Running Lights evoke the feeling of aircraft wings. The long, horizontal LED taillights come with an an integrated rear spoiler on the aerodynamically sloped trunk lid. Hidden door handles, triangular glass panels on the A-Pillar and C-Pillar, and 19-inch sport-pattern alloy wheels are also present. Furthermore, the vehicle has achieved a 5-star safety rating from E-NCAP
The interior features a simple design with spacious seats that evoke the feeling of an aircraft's First-Class Cabin. High-quality decorative materials are used throughout. The seats are upholstered in luxurious PU Polyurethane leather. A highlight is the front seats, which can recline by 240 mm (both forward and backward), adjust in height by 46 mm, and have a backrest recline of up to 160 degrees. The rear seats feature a one-button folding system, allowing them to be folded 60:40 to increase cargo space. Behind the steering wheel is a 10.25-inch LCD display, and a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that can be angled towards the driver. The two-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel provides a firm grip. The center console includes two cup holders and a wireless phone charging pad, along with ambient lighting offering up to 256 colors. Additionally, there's a large panoramic glass roof.
Juneyao Air offers 6 exterior colors: Sunrise Gold, Dawn Black, Cloud White, Morning Glow Pink, Sky Blue, and Earth Green. Specifications regarding powertrain technology, battery, and various safety assistance systems have not yet been officially revealed, but it is expected to certainly incorporate technology from its affiliated car brands.
New Electric Car Enters Thai EV Battle at Year-End
Initially, for Juneyao Air's market entry, the estimated selling price in China is not more than 200,000 yuan, or approximately 900,000-1,000,000 Thai Baht, before sales commence in 2025 in Asian countries. Competitors in our domestic market will include 4-door electric sedans such as BYD Seal (BYD Seal), Aion ES (Aion ES), and Tesla Model 3 (Tesla Model 3).
This year, Juneyao Auto will certainly display its vehicles for the first time at the "41st Motor Expo" or Motor Expo 2024. It marks another futuristic electric vehicle model continuously entering the EV market next year. As for the vehicle's specifications, we will have to wait for official details.
