HONDA CIVIC 10th Generation, body code FC, completely redesigned under the concept “CREATING A WAY OF LIFE”, with a sleek, modern Sport Sedan look, high-performance VTEC TURBO technology power, and is more environmentally friendly, along with in-car functions for convenience and comfort, including a structure and standard safety equipment superior to other cars in its class.
Exterior
New, Bigger than before
The body design gives a strong feeling, combined with sharp, sporty side lines. A black, wing-shaped grille extends horizontally, connecting with LED headlights (only for the Turbo RS model; other models use a chrome grille with projector headlights). The A-pillar is newly designed to improve visibility (addressing issues found in FD and FB models), while the roofline slopes towards the rear, connecting seamlessly with the C-pillar. The curved rear windshield conforms to the rear body lines on both sides. The taillights are C-shaped LEDs.
Interior
Spacious, Full of features
The cabin of the HONDA CIVIC is considered significantly more advanced than cars in the same class and maintains its advanced features up to the current FC model. The design lines evoke a luxurious and sporty feel simultaneously.
TFT instrument cluster and driving information display, a 7-inch touchscreen audio system with a multifunction steering wheel, integrating comprehensive connectivity technology. The screen displays in audio mode/navigation system/phone connection/fuel consumption/SIRI voice control system/HDMI and 2 USB ports, supporting Apple CarPlay connectivity (for selected smartphones), prioritizing the driver and passengers.
As a result of development, with an increased wheelbase and wider body, the cabin of the new CIVIC is spacious and comfortable, similar to D-segment cars, with many safety and convenience systems, such as a blind spot display system, reducing blind spots in the left side mirror (HONDA LANEWATCH); a rear view camera with 3 adjustable angles (The camera shows a top-down view, 130° angle, or 180° angle); Automatic Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) during sudden braking; Electric Parking Brake (EPB); Automatic Brake Hold system after applying the brake to stop the car without needing to keep the brake pedal pressed (AUTO BRAKE HOLD); Hill Start Assist system (HSA: HILL START ASSIST); Automatic car lock system when the remote key is away from the car (WALK AWAY AUTO LOCK); and 6 airbags, including dual front airbags, side airbags, and side curtain airbags.
Engine
VTEC TURBO E20 compatible
The EARTH DREAMS technology power enhances driving performance, increases fuel efficiency, and has low carbon dioxide emissions. It is a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve VTEC TURBO engine with direct fuel injection into the combustion chamber, along with a dual variable valve timing system (DUAL VARIABLE TIMING CONTROL), coupled with a turbocharger and intercooler, with electric wastegate pressure control. The exhaust-side impeller (TURBINE) is small and light, allowing efficient rotation even with low exhaust volume. Maximum power is 173 hp at 5,500 rpm, and maximum “flat-torque” is 22.4 kg-m at 1,700 to 5,500 rpm.
The powertrain is the latest CVT automatic transmission, which is notable for its smoothness and has gear ratios specifically optimized for the power band of this engine block (different transmission from the 1.8-liter engine model).
The engine and transmission response work very well together. The electronic throttle responds quickly. At low speeds, the engine is abundantly agile. For cruising speeds, the final gear ratio emphasizes low engine RPM to reduce fuel consumption. Overtaking acceleration is instantaneous because maximum torque is continuously available from low to high RPMs, along with gear ratio selection that matches driving conditions, making you forget about “paddle shifts” (only for the Turbo RS model).
Suspension system
Smooth, Reliable
The front suspension is independent MacPherson strut, and the rear is independent multi-link, providing a smooth feeling at low speeds and stable without sway at high speeds. The electric power steering with dual pinion (DP-EPS) provides efficient and responsive control.
Regarding stopping, drivers will need to get used to the brake pedal's weight first, as the free play of the brake pedal is relatively small, but full confidence is assured because it comes with a complete set of assistance systems, including VSA (VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST), ABS, and EBD.
Conclusion
Fun to drive, must watch
The latest generation of the popular sedan offers a significantly increased driving pleasure with a small engine block coupled with a forced induction system, following the “DOWNSIZING” trend, which not only provides power comparable to a large engine block but is also more environmentally friendly.
