Coupled with Honda's brand having numerous technologies and performance that is not inferior to competitors, today we will take you back to the origin of one of the most popular cars among Thais, from the 1st to the 10th generation, which will be launched soon.  

Gen.1 : The Origin of the HONDA CIVIC / 1972-1979 Unveiling the Legend of the Fuel-Efficient CVCC Engine

This car model emerged in 1972, a period of relatively high economic growth. Honda developed the CVCC engine, or Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion, an innovative powertrain with sub-combustion chambers and cylinder heads that improved combustion efficiency. It was the first time an engine was placed at the front with front-wheel drive, becoming a new standard for cars worldwide.

Gen.2 : 1979-1983 Expanded body size, but with a sleek shape and increased performance

Reinforcing the success from the first generation engine to the second generation, with the development of the CVCC-II engine that increased combustion efficiency and made the engine more powerful. This resulted in the Honda Civic being recognized for its fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. Additionally, a new look was introduced, both in the form of a Country Station Wagon and a 4-door sedan.

Gen.3 : 1983-1987 The first generation imported and sold in Thailand

In 1983, development was carried out under the philosophy "maximum space for people, minimum space for mechanisms." Increasing interior space for occupants and reducing space for the engine. This was a significant differentiator. It stood out with its Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) engine, a technology previously exclusive to Formula 1 race cars. As a result, this generation of Honda Civic gained immense popularity at that time.

Gen.4 : 1987-1991 This generation is known to Thais as the "Civic Iron"

The origin of the VTEC engine, an engine with low fuel consumption, equipped with Twin Cams to enhance driving performance, and a double-wishbone suspension system on all four wheels. It is one of the car models that is easy to maintain, which is why we can still see this model running on the roads in good condition today.

Gen.5 : 1991-1995 Revolutionizing design with the birth of the 3-door model

A leader in future design, it revolutionized automotive design with its powerful curved lines, becoming the popular "3-door Civic." Advanced with safety technologies such as Traction Control System (TCS) to prevent skidding, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Limited Slip Differential (LSD).

Gen.6 : 1995-2000 Honda Civic 'Big Eye', a familiar look

A world-class automobile. Developed with an aerodynamic structure. Featured new technologies that met the demands of car users at that time. And the VTEC engine, a unique Honda characteristic, provided high engine performance, safety, and environmental friendliness.

Gen.7 : 2000-2005 Stepping into the 2000s, still winning hearts

Developed with G-CON safety body structure to protect the cabin from multi-directional collisions. This made this generation of Honda Civic a car with the highest safety technology. Combined with a design and development concept to set a standard for compact cars, resulting in increased cabin space, maximum fuel efficiency, and a smooth ride.

Gen.8 : 2005-2012 Civic FD Rising Spirit Unveiling a New Legend: Civic

The Honda Civic returned with a sporty, sleek design. Advanced functions, a dual-layer illuminated dashboard, and a digital speedometer. It featured a new, smaller engine that offered performance equivalent to larger engines. This generation was one of the most popular and best-selling cars.

Gen.9 : 2012-2016 All New Civic Progressive Soul

This return of the Honda Civic still comes with 1.8 and 2.0-liter engines. For the first time with i-MID technology, an intelligent multi-information display that allows you to communicate directly with the car. And this time, Honda developed the Civic to support E85 alternative fuel. It also comes with Econ Mode for economical driving and the Eco Assist system to aid in fuel-efficient driving.
