Gen.1 : The Origin of the HONDA CIVIC / 1972-1979 Unveiling the Legend of the Fuel-Efficient CVCC Engine
This car model emerged in 1972, a period of relatively high economic growth. Honda developed the CVCC engine, or Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion, an innovative powertrain with sub-combustion chambers and cylinder heads that improved combustion efficiency. It was the first time an engine was placed at the front with front-wheel drive, becoming a new standard for cars worldwide.

Gen.2 : 1979-1983 Expanded body size, but with a sleek shape and increased performance

Gen.9 : 2012-2016 All New Civic Progressive Soul
This return of the Honda Civic still comes with 1.8 and 2.0-liter engines.
