News of residents complaining about power lines is still seen in every province, especially in Bangkok, where many spots have dangerously dangling power lines close to the ground, causing serious accidents for drivers, sometimes resulting in countless deaths.
Despite complaints for relevant agencies to fix and improve the situation, pedestrians fear danger from potential electricity leaks, especially on rainy days when many are afraid to walk past for fear of electrocution. People are waiting for relevant agencies to survey and organize the various wires on electricity poles in each area.
Looking on the bright side, the responsible agencies might be in the process of organizing. If so, while waiting, let's learn about the messy wires hanging on one electricity pole: what wires run through it? The Metropolitan Electricity Authority explains it like this:
On main roads, four sizes of electricity poles are installed: 22 meters high, 12 meters high, 10 meters, and 8.50 meters. For alleys, most will be 12 meters and 8.50 meters.
For 12-meter high electricity poles, the very top will be a 22,000-volt high-voltage power line. This wire cannot be approached, so it is installed approximately 10 meters above the ground.
Next, at a height of 8 meters from the ground, are low-voltage power lines of 230 or 400 volts, which are the wires connected to supply electricity to general households.
And at a height of 5-5.50 meters from the ground, what you see as many intertwined wires are telecommunication cables, which consist of:
1. Fiber optic cables, which are internet cables
2. Telephone cables
3. Cable TV cables
4. Traffic signal control cables
5. CCTV communication cables, etc., which are strung at the same level
Henceforth, if you find damaged or abnormal wires, please report immediately to the following agencies>
- Who to report power pole wire problems to?
One electricity pole consists of: the top layer is high-voltage power lines, followed by low-voltage power lines, and the very bottom layer is communication cables.
If you see communication cables hanging haphazardly, messy, or disorganized, you can report it to NBTC by calling 1200 or LINE ID: @nbtc1200
And if you find any unusual, emergency, or dangerous situations related to the electricity system, report it via:
