Many road users experience unexpected accidents on the road. Whether the accidents are severe or minor, they certainly cause damage to both lives and property. Especially accidents involving "steel-skinned" vehicles like motorcycles, where if a situation arises where the vehicle cannot be controlled, it immediately endangers the rider and passenger.
We have brought a rerun of the [Pulse Check segment] from the program Carnatomywhich presents safety technologies, both those installed on motorcycles and those worn to protect lives from injury.
Helmets, considered the 33rd organ of riders, have now seen the launch of an innovative helmet with an integrated HUD (Head Up Display) interface by BMW in collaboration with DigiLens Inc. in California. This innovation uses wave-guide optic technology to display various holographic information on a lens inside the helmet, positioned at the rider's eye level. It is designed not to affect those who wear prescription glasses. The display screen will show riding speed, vehicle status, travel routes, and communication information between riders. This feature will surely appeal to bikers who enjoy group tours. This helmet with an integrated display interface is expected to be available for sale in the next few years, and DigiLens plans to integrate this technology into other helmet brands in the future.
And another safety technology comes with a special motorcycle model from Ducati, the Multistrada 1200S Touring D-Air Bigbike which features a wireless airbag system integrated into a Dainese jacket. This system helps protect both the rider and passenger from potential dangers. Sensors are installed on the front shock absorbers and under the seat to detect impact from an accident. In the event of a collision, these sensors will activate the airbag system embedded in the jacket through the D-Air control system, sending a signal to the jacket to inflate the airbags both front and rear within milliseconds of impact, providing protection against front, rear, and side collisions. However, this sensor is smart enough not to activate
if the bike falls while parked or if there's only a minor loss of control. This jacket is 1.5 kg heavier than a normal protective jacket worn by riders. Before use, the battery must be charged once for 5 hours, providing 30 hours of use. The jacket must also be inspected at a service center every 2 years. Unfortunately, the Ducati Multistrada 1200S Touring D-Air with the Dainese jacket will only be available in the European market!!
Even though the motorcycle safety technologies mentioned here are future safety technologies, they are also near-future technologies that bring safety closer to riders and passengers, allowing them to feel more secure while riding.
