Sales
Domestic car sales in March 2026 totaled 59,865 units, an increase of 24.09 percent from February 2026 and an increase of 7.29 percent from March 2025. This increase is due to the delivery of over 100,000 booked vehicles from the Bangkok International Motor Show held from late March to early April, especially electric vehicles, which accounted for over 50 percent of bookings, as well as modified PPV pickup trucks, one company of which launched a new model in the middle of last year, hence no sales in March of last year.
However, pickup truck sales still decreased by 6.36 percent from March of the previous year, due to stricter loan approvals by financial institutions as the country's economy grows at a low rate, and buyers' incomes may not be sufficient to cover all installments. Therefore, the new government is urged to quickly propose policies and the annual expenditure budget for 2027 to parliament to accelerate investment in various projects.
This also includes building confidence for domestic and foreign investors to invest in various projects more quickly, to create more jobs and income for Thais. The Thai economy will then grow at a pace similar to neighboring countries. When the country's economy grows at a high rate, it further builds confidence for foreign and domestic investors to invest more, creating a cycle of high economic growth until Thailand escapes its middle-income country status. Industries with extensive supply chains and a large workforce must be stimulated to produce more goods than in the past year, so that the industrial production index can achieve double-digit growth, utilizing more than 70 percent of total production capacity, leading to investment in employment and more jobs for Thais.
