Inter-Media Consultant Co., Ltd., the organizer of the annual international motor show “Motor Expo” (Thailand International Motor Expo), has recognized the importance of organizing events responsibly towards the environment. Thus, it is taking on a leadership role in event management by initiating the “Sustainable Event Management” project (Motor Expo Sustainable Booth Recognition) to promote eco-friendly booth design and management, reduce resource consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and waste volume concretely. The aim is to make it a model for low-carbon events (Low Carbon Event) and a guideline for sustainable event organization in the future.

The project committee comprises experts with knowledge, expertise, and experience in sustainable environmental management, namely Wilawan Panrang, CEO of MMU Co., Ltd.; Dr. Thanaphong Duangmanee, Director of Environmental Policy and Environmental Engineer at the Learning Center for Energy and Environmental Management, Mae Fah Luang Foundation; and Kanklon Raktham, Head of Communications and Engagement, UNDP Thailand. This is to drive the project to achieve its objectives and build confidence among exhibitors, visitors, and all stakeholders involved in the event.

The project implementation process begins by inviting interested exhibitors of the “42nd Motor Expo” to apply for participation. The committee will then evaluate based on the Criteria and Evaluation Motor Expo Sustainable Booth Recognition, which consists of 4 topics as follows:
1. Materials & Booth Design
Evaluated based on booth design, decorative materials used, and the plan for managing decorative materials after the event. Emphasis is placed on selecting eco-friendly materials, recycled materials, or reusable materials. It also focuses on having clear guidelines for managing decorative materials after the exhibition to prevent them from becoming landfill waste.
2. Giveaways & Souvenirs
Evaluated based on the quantity of souvenirs produced for distribution, including the materials used to produce the souvenirs. Emphasis is placed on efficient management of distributed items to reduce unnecessary production. And souvenirs must be made from natural materials, recycled materials, or easily biodegradable products, and reduce the use of single-use plastics.
3. Communication & Awareness
Evaluated based on communication regarding sustainability within the booth, including the format and type of media used for promotion. Emphasis is placed on booths incorporating environmental or sustainability content into their promotional activities and choosing promotional media that reduce environmental impact, such as using Digital Brochures (QR Code) instead of distributing flyers, or using LED screens instead of vinyl banners.
4. Outcome & Monitoring
Evaluated based on cooperation in submitting data related to Carbon Footprint assessment to establish new standards for event organization where environmental impacts can be transparently monitored.
For exhibitors of the “42nd Motor Expo” who participate in the project and pass the committee's evaluation criteria, they will receive a certificate of honor in recognition of their significant role in driving the event towards the goal of becoming a leader in sustainability.
