4 Colors on Your Car's Dashboard...What Do They Tell You?
Sep 12 , 2017
Have you noticed that your car's dashboard has multi-colored warning symbols? “Mr. Motor Expo” will clarify what each color means.
“Warning symbols on the dashboard are there to alert you to an abnormality in the car or to indicate that a system is in use, categorizing importance or danger by color, similar to traffic lights.”
1. Red Warning Light
Means a warning “with a risk of danger.” If seen, you must stop the car and check immediately, such as a warning for a door not properly closed, parking brake engaged, seatbelt not fastened, coolant temperature too high, alternator not working, etc.
2. Yellow Warning Light
Means a warning “to be careful,” but the car can continue to run, such as a warning for low fuel, rear fog lights on, stability control system not working, anti-lock braking system not working, etc.
3. Green Warning Light
Means a warning to indicate “status” that a system is currently in use, such as headlights on, turn signals on, front fog lights on, cruise control system working, etc.
4. Blue Warning Light
Means a warning to indicate that something “should not yet be used at full performance,” such as an engine cold warning symbol or high beam headlights warning symbol, etc.
“Warning symbols on the dashboard are there to alert you to an abnormality in the car or to indicate that a system is in use, categorizing importance or danger by color, similar to traffic lights.”
