AUTOMOBILE TECHNOLOGY DREAMS WITHOUT BOUNDARY
• The first automobile in the world was not merely a vehicle to replace horse drawn carriages or bicycles, but it also represented the most advanced form of technology known to mankind as of then – over 100 years ago. And ever since, the automobile has been playing that role.
Even though there may be other branches of technology today that are more advanced than that of the automobile, but the essentials of such technologies have always been transferred to the automobile.
Examples of sophisticated technologies that can be found in the latest models of car include space frame structure, active noise control system developed from the original helicopter application, automatic navigation system that operates in conjunction with the global positioning system, various active and passive safety devices, computer-controlled engine management system, suspension system and comfort/convenience equipment.
All this is a phenomenon resulting from borderless linking of all branches of technology, spurred on by man's endless dreams about the automobile and his unsparing efforts to make them come true.
In the past, man dreamt of building a vehicle that would transport him from place to place. Decades after that, he dreamt of an ideal machine, perfect in shape, performance, efficiency, convenience and safety. Now it seems there is nothing that manufacturers and users of automobiles dare not dream of.
